12. A Gift From The Villagers

At first I wanted to do another black and white cartoon, but once I settled on the Aztec theme I decided against it. After all, what's the point of involving Quetzalcoatl if I'm not going to use color?

Naturally, getting all the colors on Quetzalcoatl was the most tedious aspect of this strip. I think he came out looking pretty good though.

The wife character was originally going to be an Aztec diety like Quetzalcoatl. However, I couldn't find any mention of female Aztec deities on google or wikipedia. So, I instead made her a generic stepford wife. I actually think that makes the strip funnier.

I went through a couple of ideas for dialogue before I settled on Quetzalcoatl angrily wishing for a waffle iron.
