As I've said before, I'm a bit antsy about full-page Capital of Helsinki strips. I think The Capital of Helsinki works best as a three panel gag strip.
However, I have had this particular idea stuck in my head for quite a while. And, I didn't really see it working in any format besides the one you see above this text.
For those unfamiliar with Greek mythology, Leda is one of the many, many human women that Zeus seduced during his Earth dalliances. For this one, Zeus had sex with her in the guise of a swan. They had two children as the result of this union. One of them was the infamous Helen of Troy.
The image of Leda and the Swan became a common illustrative archtype during the 16th century. Even Leonardo da Vinci took a crack at Leda and the Swan. (Although his painting is lost to the ages)
As for the strip itself…
I personally can't think of any reason why somebody would transform into a swan in order to seduce somebody. I then thought that maybe she had a thing for swans already. This would explain a lot.
My thoughts then raced to the prospect of some old suitor of Leda's that got forcibly banished to the dreaded "Friend Zone". He's wondering about why he didn't measure up to her standards. And then he sees-
