Yes, it's late again. The Capital of Helsinki usually updates on Saturday, but as we all know drunkduck.com was moving its server again. So, here we are on Monday again.

Anyways, about the strip itself…

I was thinking that the vomit in the last panel was a bit too festive looking. My sister said it was okay though.

As most of you likely know, this strip is a spoof on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They were a group of anthropomorphic turtles that fought crime under the tutelage of a giant talking rat named Master Splinter.

In the late 80's and early 90's the Ninja Turtles were the gigantic fad of the moment. There were comic books, a long running cartoon show, various video games, a series of movies, a myriad of toys, and the various other trappings of fads.

Like many tots who were alive during that period, I was caught up in the Ninja Turtle zeitgeist pretty fierce. They have likely shaped my mind and destiny in ways that I cannot even comprehend fully.

This notion often scares me.

So yes, tossing them in The Capital of Helsinki is possibly an inevitability. I'm a little unsure of putting them in though. I'm obviously not above riffing on pop culture references, but I prefer doing stuff that's of a certain vintage. Using The Seventh Seal or Superman as lampoon material is okay because those are classic features that have proven their relevance over a passage of decades.

The Turtles, although almost thirty years old, may still be seen as somewhat dated.

Then again, I already did a Transformers gag.
