If you don't already know, this strip references Tarzan. Tarzan is a famous pulp adventure hero created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The first Tarzan story was published in 1912. It was then followed by twenty-six sequels and a plethora of unauthorized bootlegs. There have been countless renditions of the jungle man in other forms of media, including at least eighty-nine movies, several TV shows, and piles upon piles of comics.

The idea for this strip came from an article I skimmed regarding how childrearing determines sexuality. One prominent psychiatrist theorized that a child in Tarzan's situation almost certainly would've had sex with other members of his gorilla herd. (Provided that a group of gorillas would accept a human child as one of their own, which is a bit dubious)

Anyways, if this is true then Jane Porter is shit outta luck.

Some of you may have noticed that I modeled Jane's appearance after her depiction in the Disney movie. I haven't actually seen the movie, but I do like her character design in it. Plus, it's a popular incarnation of her so the casual reader will recognize this strip as a Tarzan riff straight away.
