72. Sugar and Spice and Niceties

This particular Capital of Helsinki was the result of yet another dive into my notebook of old, barely sketched out gag ideas. One of them was about the concept of a gingerbread man who's also a suicide bomber. It had been some time since I last did a comic strip with a fairy tale theme, so this one seemed due.

I initally wanted the insurgent commander in panel three to be Osama bin Laden. However, I ultimately went with Che because of how instantly recognizable he is. Sure, Osama is infamous, but he can't compete with Che's visage being plastered over every East Coast hippie's dorm room wall.
