When I originally wrote the script, it wasn't so obvious just how the karnates were different to other people. I'd always seen them as a 'throw caution to the wind' type of folk. They have a very skewed set of morals, they're not bound by the same sense of decency that we are and they certainly don't have the same hangups about their bodies as we often do.

I think Nightshade typifies that, and she's the nicer of the karnate worshippers on Hestonia. A little girly in her own way, even if covered from head to foot in blood.

Boy, does she need a bath!
