Kou the Mad, Spikes, hkmaly- That's a good question that has been the topic of many debates. I think the best theory is that we've romanticized the idea a bit, to understand it better. It could be something as unromantic as the angels were just beams of light, and impregnated women ala Zeus and his shower of gold falling into a princess's lap. Another good theory is that angels have the capability to take human form, but aren't supposed to without permission, and that was the 'start' of the sin, which they just made worse by taking wives.

Who knows. In my upbringing, I believe God gives everything free will after instructing them on right and wrong. For an angel to disregard this is actually kind of shocking and serious.

You'll find I have "Liz'd" a lot of these theories and ideas in my story, to make them more interesting and palatable, so never take anything as gospel truth. I definitely recommend looking up stuff on the Grigori and the Nephilim on your own though, it's actually very interesting, even if you're not partial to religion.
