Author notes
In Yiddish the words 'Schlemiel' and 'Schlimazel' mean respectively; A dim-wit and/or Klutz and a Hard-luck case.
Hence 'Schlemiel & Schlimazel' came to mean a comedy team where the stupidity of one often spelled disaster for the other.
Laurel & Hardy and Skipper & Gilligan come to mind.
To worsen things for the 'Schlimazel', the 'Schlemiel' tended to have all the good luck in the world.
Need I say more about THESE two.
