As you saw in the last page, there's a ton of little stone graves here. And the cannibal/pirates that Mota mentions, took over most of the region, so it wouldn't be surprising at all to encounter some on the road :x. If they did remove some of the stones, it was for nothing. Ghimookan's cremate their dead, so if it was bodies they were looking for, they wasted their time :p. Only ashes.
