Excerpt from 'A Study of Orcs–Final Year Thesis by J.A. Stroud'

…If there is one quality of the Orcs that we might admire, it is their reckless (or foolhardy, as critics claim) pursuit of 'honour'. What exactly defines this 'honour' seems to be brought about by generations of cultural upbringing, rather than logical dogma. This idea of honour (as far my observation go) seems to revolve around courage in battle (which might explain why orcs are almost always at war) and serving the people (orcs). Leaders among the orcs are often those perceived to have the highest 'honour'. It comes as no surprise, then, that the greatest possible crime among the orcs is a betrayal of this 'honour', which is punished by death, or worse, exile.

Few examples of such a crime exist to the knowledge of us humans, but the most historically (in)famous case can be traced to the Battle of the Shezzarline Border. The reasons behind the surrendering (an unthinkable act amongst the orcs) of a prominent leader to the enemy (the elves) eludes history, but the act itself is believed to signalled the end of orcish dominance in the Southern Regions…
