Shadow is clearly starting to get pissed. And yes, Knuckles is obsessed with the Master Emerald. If you had to spent 15 years in a room with only one other object, and that object happened to be a magical emerald the size of a car, you'd be obsessive, too.

Don't worry, this joke doesn't go any further. Knuckles regains sanity soon enough.
