While I'll like to blame the power outage for the lack of recent comics it was actually a minor factor and not a main one.

The problem with infrequent power outages is that the urgency of a regular annoyance is kind of missing once the power is back on. So while several good, sturdy, battery operated lights is a good idea, once the power comes back on and you're throwing out spoiled food and buying replacement food as well as the cost of fixing or replacing things takes precedence and buying things for future power outages tends to get forgotten… until the next power outage. Boom!
