Human nature, very often, in times of utter distress, removes it's collective outlook on life, and becomes an issue of individual survival. People normally regarded as gentle and kind become as animalistic and selfish as the wild kingdom around us. What divides the civilized mind from the primordial 'self-preservation' mode? Is it not the possession of materials, which give to people a false sense of security?, whose happiness is derived from? Once taken away, will render those civilized minds as fierce and brutish as any predator is. In such situations, it is natural to be selfish and uncaring towards others, thinking only of the self's survival, losing care for everyone else. But, it is supernatural to resist the animalistic instincts of nature. And, to keep our concern for the collective, when everyone else becomes an individual. For, it is not of individuals that great societies are wrought, but through a collective effort, great societies are built, never owing total credit to a single individual, but from the efforts of all. It is natural to take, in such a situation, but it is supernatural to give. It is natural to think of one's own salvation, but supernatural to sacrifice one's self for the benefit of others. Which are we?
