As a good soldier, Hedgedude did not give his enemy a chance to strike, or to beguile him, and properly used immediate action, nullifying the enemy, who can now do no harm to himself nor his compatriots. To the mind of weakness, this may seem extreme. But when the example becomes known, in the minds of the enemy, they will take greater care in the future on how they deal with these. This will lead to peace, but showing weakness in such a situation, by neglecting immediate action, for whatever reason, will lead the enemy to think that you are simply weak, enervating them, leading to more such attacks, spiraling out of control, until nothing less than war is necessary. Taking far too much life and resources, which is not the way to peace, but instead the way to certain war. Appeasement never works, only strength is respected, in all its forms. Sometimes, a strong heart. Sometimes, a strong fist. Sometimes, strength and patience, and long suffering. And sometimes strength of resolve! A good soldier knows all of these. And so, Hedgedude, Hotpants, and the good Colonel, steel their minds for what must come next.
