Fighting the Champion

As luck would have it, the note of warning to Hotpants did not arrive in time to prevent Hotpants' fate. Because the very next day, as Hotpants was being prepared for the arena down in the bloodworks, the Jailer announced to Hotpants that this very evening he would be facing the boss. The boss always wore a fearsome battle helmet, so Hotpants has never actually met, or seen the boss. He has only heard stories of him, from various witnesses of his legendary battle prowess. Tradertown had never seen anything like him. And because of this prowess, he immediately became who he is- He whom they call 'The Boss'…. Unknown fears from deep inside Hotpants' soul began to rise up to the forefront of his consciousness, like spectres of foreboding and terror. Taking a deep breath, clearing his mind, Hotpants goes through his battle mantra. 'Breathe in, count to four..Breathe out, count to four. And I will see my fear. I will confront my fear. I will let it pass through me, and over me. And when it is past, there will only be me, and the challenge before me. Breathe in…count to four. Breathe out.' In this manner, Hotpants prepared himself mentally, for the deadly unknown challenge before him. Knowing not what to expect, but as a hero, he moved forward into the arena. The familiar sound of the gate slamming behind him. The din of the crowd, ringing through his mind. 'Breathe in…count to four. Breathe out.' Just then, the hulking image of the boss, fearsome as he was, arrayed in his battle armour, rising from his dais, lowering his gaze steadily upon our hero, he smirks beneath his helmet, and draws a big, ugly sword from his side. He moves out of his place, and leaps over the rail, into the arena with Hotpants. Crashing to the ground with a mighty thud, a dust cloud billows out around him as he lands with the crashing of his armour. He rises and stands, almost seven feet in height. A seeming giant, before our hero. What will Hotpants do? What will be the fate of our hero? Can any man defeat this monster?
