This is a rough sketch I did a while back for a Nine Realms character named Joñir, Lord of the Dream-Realm. Each of the Nine Realms represents a metaphysical idea or "thing," for lack of a better word. As its name suggests, there are nine seperate worlds, all connected to each other and to the earth, where all nine overlap. The rulers of these worlds, like Joñir, have influence over the earth and humanity, and are revered as gods in their own realms. 
Like I said, this is a rough sketch, but I wanted the Lord of Dreams to have a somber look about him, while being surrounded by a surreal landscape to represent how dreams feel so real when you are in the dream-world, but when you wake up you realize how surreal and at times absurd the dreams are. Joñir is the anthropomorphic personification of these ideas, being both deathly serious and absurdly comic at the same time.
