Ahhh, alas, no comic this week. :/
I just started school this past week, and now that I'm nearing the end of my college career (I have two more semesters after this one!), the reading has gotten, well, insane xD. I have three classes that require 100+ pages of reading a week, and I've been studying Chinese a lot more because we are no longer allowed to use English in Chinese class, haha.

Because of my crazy schedule, I think I'm going to have to ditch a specific update day, which is bad, I know, but I'm way too busy to promise updates on a specific day. I'm going to start doing them weekly, so you'll just have to look out for them ^^;. I answered your comments in the comment section of the last page.

So I give you this! A filler, yes, but a filler with information that will not disappear! I really don't like inturrupting my archives with filler, but I think ones with info like this are worthy of staying. (Honestly, I drew the pic quite awhile ago xD)

Back in the 1920's, with the advent of flapper fashion and culture among young women came The Flapper magazine. It was like the flapper bible, outlining what was fashionable (like skirts with hems over and around knee becoming really popular between 1925-1927).

Speaking of changing hemlines, the showing of the knees was a big thing back then as you can see from this "Flapper" short piece. While that little article may seem really silly, you have to understand that women just started showing their ankles less than 15 years before it was written! It was a big step for people to start seeing, *gasp*, kneecaps!! xD

Basically, if you were a flapper who read The Flapper, you were a cool, "it" girl (notice how the cover warns against "old fogies" xD). You wore "short" skirts, smoked, listened to jazz, and hid alchohol in your shoes or stalkings. And you didn't give a damn what anybody though while you were doing it (right Ophelia?? :D)

You can see some nice 1920's flapper video here. And this little clip here features William Haines and Joan Crawford. I like to watch silent films when I have time, and William Haines is one of my fave silent film actors! He starred in a movie called "Brown of Harvard" which is pretty funny (I believe you can find it on youtube, I watched it there.) And yes, I am basing some of what's happening in Emmott Parker's life off of William's life. And Joan Crawford had a lengthy career and was actually a good friend of William's. :D
