Excellent first couple of pages!
The artwork is assured and detailed, and the backstory unobtrusively introduced. What more could anyone want from an introductory scene?!
I would suggest toning down the glowing magic effects. They look pretty but - for me - they don't quite "fit" with the sharp linework on the rest of the art. Small niggle. Other than than everything is pretty much spot on.
Looking forward to more.
