And the winner of the first SuperFogeys Create-A-Character Contest is…

Drumroll, please.

Are you drumming?

And the winner is… Captain Emo!

This entry came from William D. Sharpe, III. Congrats, William! His original character description is as follows:

Captain Emo

Captain Emo's emo-ness progressed to super-human levels, allowing him to
empathically share pain with other, both in giving it to them, or taking their pain
on himself.

Fish-belly white skin, long black hair that often hangs in his face, he wears
glasses and has a Van Dyke beard. His outfit is a black long sleeved shirt with the
comedy and tragedy masks on it, long black gloves wrapped in (fake) barbed wire,
faded jeans (formerly black, now faded to grey), grey and white tennis shoes, and a
cloth wrap around the waist, with more (fake) barbed wire.

This was a tough, tough decision. Seriously, you have no idea. Every entry I received had something to recommend about it and that I could have easily used in the strip. In the end, Captain Emo won because of the great name and the slightly pathetic nature of the character. (And the great visual–I'm only making a couple of modifications, but he should look pretty great.) Plus, I think his powers are really unique and I can easily have a lot of fun with him. His MySpace page will be hitting soon, but another thing that appealed to me about Captain Emo was that I can see him fitting into my plans for Chapter 6.

So, congrats again to William and thanks to all of you who entered. This was so much fun that we may do this again someday. Certainly, I'd love to do another contest of SOME sort.

Hope everyone enjoys today's strip! Groundwork is being laid for a big reveal around strip #100. Get ready for it!
