I'm a real fan of artists that put in their own backgrounds, and am aware that it's a weakness of mine as an artist - it's not that I can't do backgrounds (although, I'm certainly not as good at buildings and cars as I'd like to be), but for some reason I think that establishing scene in earlier pages works for my story - but in truth it hurts the page overall. I think that backgrounds need to become a focus for me in future comic projects.

What do you guys think? How necessary are backgrounds for a page?

Also, on a personal note, today's my brother's birthday! Happy birthday, Nate!
