Todays Fan Art is by someone I met almost as soon as I joined Drunk Duck, TheMidge28! Actually, this was a birthday gift that he made for me, which I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate that. I always prefer gifts that people make for me, as it shows that they put forth the time and effort, and I do appreciate it. Midge does an awesome comic called Bloodhound which I almost instantly took to upon my arival on this site.

Midge has a very unique art style, utilizing a minimalist color scheme (mostly red and purple) and an almost Frank Miller like approach to his bold black shadows. The mood and atmosphere that he creates in a single page is more than most people can pull off in 30+ pages (myself included). He's not afraid to cast his characters in almost complete darkness to set the stage for the kind of situation (and world) that they inhabit.

This gothic, almost moir style of art was one of the first reasons that I was drawn to this comic…and then I read the story! At only 27 pages in, not a ton has happened - but what has happened is sweet! The prologue is a dream sequence in Japan of a drunken man being attacked, and then the person having the dream reveals that he is cursed. The first chapter follows the exploits of two under cover cops trying to catch a serial rapist, until some supernatural events start taking place. I don't want to spoil any of it for you, but the imagry is some of the most powerful in comics today - and that includes the stuff coming out of the studios!

Be sure to check out Bloodhound, one of the sweetest comics ever made - especially on Drunk Duck!

You too can contribute to "Fan Art Fridays!" Fan Art will be displayed in the order that they are received, and each person who submits a piece of fan art will receive a mini-review like above. Please include a link to the comic you would like reviewed if you have multiple titles. Please send me fan art and links through a PM (or quack). :D
