And now we know why I was originally going to call this story "Genocide." I'll explain it all at the beginning of the next book, I think, in a "Previously" section, but here's my synopsis:

Milikin rose to power by assassinating everyone in his path and had been wagging a secret war against the Hikari ever since. His justification is this prophecy that the gods left with Abraham, but Sophia could give two craps about that - she's just sticking up for her people and avenging her sister's death.

But wait, if she just chopped off his hands and he has two hands in the original Temple story….hmmmmmmmmmmm….
