I can see Protoman's point here. They think they are strong enough to not have soliders to protect the area. So, they think they are strong enough to take on Protoman too. By thinking like this they think that they can take on the coolest robot ever made. So in a way of thinking they think as themselves as coolest Robots than Protoman… Who am I kidding, the truth is that I was too lazy to put soliders here and need a reason for Protoman to kill Oilman…. Yeah I know since when do we need a reason for killing Robot Master.
Another possibility could have been that Protoman kill Oilman cause he is affraid that one day he could become cooler than him.
