I have never read Nicholas Sparks' novel titled A Walk to Remember, nor do I plan to. However, I'm sure you as the reader are more familiar with the film adaption (which I have also not seen).
Now I'm sure the actual walk is about some intimate moment between guy and girl following their teenage dreams which will inevitably be ripped apart once they enter college (assuming they get accepted). But that's just it, how sure are you going to remember something like that? What if you find someone even better in your life? Wouldn't that dash anyway any memories from that earlier walk in your younger years?
That's why I felt there needed something…more. It shouldn't be a mere walk down the street carrying a deep conversation. No, instead something else should happen. Something that will mentally scar you for the rest of your life. No matter how hard you try, that image of chaos will be burned in your mind forever. Next time, the author should incorporate a plot like that. Something the protagonist really will never forget.
