Same Auld Lang Syne (RIP Dan Fogelberg)

That's always been a little comic-strip pet peeve of mine… the characters fight to stay awake until the big moment at midnight… but when midnight rolls around, one or all of them are fast asleep. (And I'm happy to report that almost all the strips stayed away from that this year.) It's a worn-out plot cliche that ranks right up there with someone being asked to do something, they go "Nope, I'm not doing it, there's absolutely NO way you're gonna get me to do it!" and guess what, in the next panel they're reluctantly doing it. I swore to myself I would steer clear of these two hack moves. (ADDED 1-7-10: And I spoof that latter cliche in "O Tannenbummer".)

P.S. You might have noticed that the dress Bethany has on is the same one that Cassie bought in "The Five Year Discount" just over a week ago.
