The premise of this is that John and the real author are commenting on it as the real author makes it, which takes up a lot more time than the events in the comic. Thus, how they can talk so much during this sequence; it's not that the girl transforms slowly.

Edit: To those wondering how to tell whether the top and bottom screens can interact: If the bottom screen is part of the main story, they can't. If it's a filler, they can. You can tell by the backgrounds.

Edit2: Well okay, so that ^ isn't always applicable. You'll be able to tell. But there's no real rule.
