El Cid
on

Cover design and pinups have never been my strong point, but I want to try and at least do a snazzy cover design for each chapter break. I'll post the first few pages next week, and the comic should clumsily ease it way into some kind of regular update schedule by mid-to-late May. That's the plan, at least!

I guess I should probably clear something up, because it got asked about twice already: No, the “trans” in the title isn't supposed to have some kind of double meaning, and no, this isn't a comic about transsexuals in space. “Transneptunian” is a sciency word for all those comets, planetoids, and other space slush that's floating around in our outer solar system beyond the boundary of Neptune's orbit. They call them “Transneptunian objects.” I thought it was a slightly better title than “Cid's Big Dumb Space Comic,” or the original working title: “Space Nazis vs Vampires.”

(okay, actually I really liked that last title, but since I ended up writing out the space nazis and the vampires, I just couldn't make that work)

Sci fi is uncharted territory for me. While I've always loved science fiction conceptually, and seen great potential in the genre, I've never really delved into it much, either as a reader or as a creator. I'm far too reptile-brained to write some deep exploration of what it means to be human or a mindbending time travel caper or anything like that, so this is more or less a straightforward space opera with a dash or two of my own special sauce here and there.

I should also take this opportunity to warn any poor soul who's mistakenly stumbled onto this comic suspecting they've found a respectable new title for discerning readers. Um… you haven't. My stories tend to go into weird places, and they're very much not safe for work. I'm just as comfortable posting eight pages of lighthearted banter and well-choreographed gunplay as I am posting eight pages of crossdressing midget porn. Not that I'd want to scare anyone away from reading this awesome webcomic masterpiece or anything but, yunno, full disclosure.

Aaaaand that's probably enough for now. See you next week! Add this to your Favorites so you don't miss any updates!
