014 - If You Insist...

El Cid
on

I told Prototype a while ago that there would be a scene with hundreds of writhing hermaphrodites having sloppy space sex. He probably thought I was joking. Well… I wasn't.

Another massive scenery shift. Disoriented yet? It looks like they're in an outdoor open air environment here, but they're actually still deep underground. And before the science police handcuff me for that last panel, yes I know that "Six" guy would barely fall in Triton's low gravity, so most likely the cherub twins threw him down with some force. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! But now, I have something serious to get to…

Bad news for anyone who's been enjoying this comic so far, cuz we got problems. Namely, my hard drive went kaput last week, and took all the files and models and stuff I use for this comic with it. It wasn't a total loss, because I do have some of this stuff backed up, but I did still lose a lot, and it's going to take a ton of work before I'm able to get back to a point where I'm able to start doing new artwork for the comic.

To make a positive out of a negative, I went ahead and took this opportunity to buy a new computer, something I've been putting off for a very long time. In the long run, it's going to help me get more done faster (I hope), but in the short run, getting all my software reinstalled and getting everything to work on the new computer will likely add a few more days' downtime.

So, what does all this mean for the comic? Not much, in the immediate future. I do have a pretty big buffer, which I was smart enough to upload to my Google Drive so none of that was lost. So you'll get this page (only one update this week), and another page next week. After that, I should have a better idea just how much this whole catastrophe has set me back and I'll be able to make a decision just what needs to be done with this comic: does it need to go on hiatus, do I need to maintain a super sluggish update schedule for a couple of months… Right now, I really don't know.

So, what can *you* do to help the El Cid Recovery Project? Well, you could click the LIKE button, if you haven't already. It won't help me rebuild my lost content, but at least it'll make me feel better. I'll keep you all posted on any developments. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my comic. More on the way!
