054 - Ceremonial Bloodletting

The animation is part 1 of a series I'm working on. I don't have a title for it yet. I'll probably come up with a title later. It's not going to have a title.

This page falls under the category of “not particularly necessary.” When I first wrote the scene, the gladiators had a bigger role; they actually present Councilman Ozuna with a triumphal severed head and there's some other interactions, but I ended up deciding it was going to make the scene too long. So they just get a few pages for “color” purposes. Stay tuned. Coming up: bizarre celebrity appearances, and a big badass action sequence!

As for the animation, I tried as best I could to make sense of the survey results. There is a small contingent of readers who are either indifferent or unfavorable towards the animated features, but mostly all of the feedback was positive. So, I will try to include animated installments when and where I can. But two quick things about them:

1) Yes, the animations do take time to put together (even crappy ones like this one), and I don't want them to cut into my time spent working on the main comic. So pretty much, I'll only work on animations when I'm taking a break from doing comic pages. They're sort of like a side project, so I won't be putting up an animation with every update, or even every other update, but I will sporadically work on them as the inspiration hits me.

2) With the Drunkduck Improvement Drive fully funded, the site's going to be getting some fixes and updates in the not-too-distant future. Mostly, that's a good thing. However, Ozoneocean has made noises about planning to implement file size limits, and that could possibly prevent me from being able to upload the animated clips whenever it goes into effect. But so long as I'm still able to post them here, I'll keep posting them here.
