You probably didn't catch it, but I'm going to reveal something you will not be able to un-see. If you look real closely at that second panel, it looks like Jetta's legs are a bit shorter than they should be. That's because they are.

Jetta's legs are * always * a little bit short, by design. She's not a tall slender California blonde; she's a curvy woman somewhat below average in height. So part of the stubby-legged gymnastics in panel two are intentional. But there was also a software glitch involved. Not to get too involved in the technical details, but the 3d model for Jetta is a transformation of an original base mesh that has average female proportions. Somewhere during the posing phase, a glitch caused the deformers in her legs to multiply, causing her legs to be twice as short as they're supposed to be. I didn't catch it at first because initially I thought it was just an illusion caused by foreshortening due to the camera angle. By the time I figured it out, it was far too late to go back; I'd have to redo the entire panel from scratch. So now we're left with a panel of Jetta: Stubby-legged assassin!

We're now entering Day 17 of my Star Wars standoff. I still can't bring myself to watch it. I've taken extreme measures. I'm leaving the DVD on top of the DVD player for easy access, just in case I'm struck by a sudden urge for some wookie goodness. Unfortunately, that's had the side effect of sending me deep diving into my On Demand menu. I'm halfway into Season 1 of 'Deadwood' right now.

In likely unrelated news, after my previous Star Wars post, I received a brusque email from Harrison Ford telling me to “get off his plane.”

I don't get it. I'm not on his plane. I've never been on his plane! What a weird dude.

By the by, is anyone else as stoked as I am about AMC's new Preacher series coming out later this month? 'Preacher' was the comic that totally changed the way I looked at comics, and was a major early influence on my work. It was profane, brilliant, certifiably insane, and it was the first time I realized you really could make comics that aren't for kids. Prior to that, I'd always thought of comics in terms of rubbish like Superman and X-Men, softcore muscle porn with loud, superficial morality and dispensable melodramatic plots. I'm really looking forward to seeing it, though I'll admit I wasn't exactly blown away by the trailer, and I have my doubts about AMC being able to do the source material justice. It really needed to end up on a premium channel like HBO. But I guess I'll have to settle for the neutered version.

That's enough yappin' from me. See ya later, folks!
