071 - Red Mist

El Cid

This is one of those morally problematic moments.

On the one hand, the lady in pink was practically already dead. I mean, generally speaking, people don't live very long after being sliced in half. So at worst, Jetta was only hastening her departure a little bit in order to help take out the assassin who mortally mangled her in the first place.

On the other hand, it's not crazy to believe that Triton's super spacey medical technology might have been able to save her, even if it meant transferring the brain to a new body. So in that case, by getting what's left of her all blown to bits, Jetta has pretty much doomed her. If that's the case, then what Jetta just did here was pretty awful. There's room to believe either.

Personally, I prefer to think that she at least didn't consciously make up her mind that she was going to use a living person as a meat shield. Originally the dialogue made it clear that she at least initially thought she was grabbing a dead body to throw and at the last minute realizes her dilemma. It's slightly funnier than the final version I went with, but it only muddies the morality question even further.

Random fun fact: The medical term for being cut in half at the waist is hemicorporectomy. Cutting people in half is dangerous, so don't try it at home, kids! Also, if you are a kid, you shouldn't be reading this comic. The next scene is pretty raunchy.

On that note, we'll see ya later. Unless you get hemicorporectomized before then..
