078 - A Helping Hand

Remember Kai? She's totally not dead. But still bitchy as ever. And what the heck is that she's shooting Nina with? Well, it's hard to see, but she's actually blasting Nina – somehow -– with her own severed arm cannon. Turnabout is fair shot in the face.

Coming up next, the final page of this scene, and the final installment(s) in the “Nina's Hard Drive” animation series. Speaking of which, here's today's segments. Apologies in advance; these are not my best work. More on that in a moment…





Uh… yeah. So Nina took out the security people with a venomous nanopredator. That's what that was supposed to show. I got a little overzealous there; this was all supposed to be one big mega animated GIF, but I overestimated how much file compression I could get away with and still have something small enough to upload. So I ended up splitting it into two parts and it's sort of a mess. Well, they can't all be Oscar-worthy!



This is definitely random, but it's sort of interesting. Mars's moon Phobos is gradually inching closer to the planet, and within 10 to 20 million years, it should cross the Roche limit, at which point tidal forces will likely rip it apart, forming a ring around Mars. Meanwhile, some astronomers think that Saturn's distinctive ring system is only a temporary feature which formed relatively recently, and will eventually be lost. How bizarre it would be to visit a solar system where Mars has rings, and Saturn doesn't!
