143 - Some Extra Convincing

The dialogue on this page was a nightmare to write. And since it made me miserable, I am now going to make you miserable by telling you about it.

This page was supposed to go up on Tuesday, but when I took a look at it before posting, I realized how irredeemably horrid the dialogue was. There was just no way I could post that, and no healthy human being would voluntarily choose to read it. I agonized over rewriting the page for longer than I care to admit, covering the entire page with red notes to myself: Too wordy; Too dry; Nobody talks like this; What is the purpose of including this; This does nothing to advance the story. I finally gave up. It was so bad that I resigned myself to not updating at all this week. I'd maybe post a pinup or something and then wait until I had some real time to look this thing over, which wouldn't be until the weekend.

After sleeping on it I realized that the page wasn't going to be up to snuff whether I waited until next week or next year to post it, so I needed to go ahead and post it. So I did this final version, which is still much too wordy for what I was going for, but at least has some humor and character about it. And it doesn't completely suck.

And for those of you who would have rather seen a pinup: Sorry. Maybe after the end of the chapter… which is pretty close, actually. I may bury this page with another update tomorrow; haven't decided yet. The next page isn't much of a winner either! (hmmm, maybe I should post a pinup instead…)
