191 - Outgunned

Yeesh! It just keeps going from bad to worse for the hapless citizens of Nova Dagon. A homicidal mooner valkyrie shooting flames and plasma at anything that moves, a swarm of robot bugs with acid venom stingers, and now minigun-packing drones coming out of the ductwork. Where's a superhero when you need one! Unfortunately, it looks like they'll need to handle this one on their own, without the aid of inexplicable super powers or plot armor.

I'm not sure how discernible it is, but in the last two panels, I was trying to show that the sprinkler system had been activated, so that's what all that noisy stuff in the air is supposed to be.





I thought this was a really neat video, so I'll go ahead and share it with all of yous. NASA put together this super high-detailed virtual flyover of Pluto and Charon using topographical data collected by the New Horizons mission. Why? Because they have billions of dollars and nothing else to do, that's why! But it's really cool; in some ways this 3D simulation is almost better than real video… except that, yunno, real video would actually be real and there's no telling how accurate the sim actually is. But hey, if you've ever wondered what it would be like to cruise above the surface of Pluto or its moon/co-planet Charon, this is probably the closest and most definitive approximation you're ever going to see.





They should do a series of visuals like this for a big IMAX production. That'd be snazzy.
