203 - Reintroduction

El Cid
on

And there go the latest episodes in my ongoing animated space pirate series 'Insertion Burn.' Looks like we have a double - double cross. That's the worst kind of cross! I didn't do such a great job with that last one, which is why I need to explain it here in the author's notes. The reason Homicidal Blonde Chick drops dead is because she's been poisoned. You may have caught it a couple episodes back when she and the bald dude agreed to turn on their comrades, and she took a swig from his flask by way of sealing the deal. Well, turns out there was a little something extra in whatever he gave her.

And of course this whole sequence was a flashback explaining how our goateed antihero found himself swimming through the mermaid infested subterranean catacombs of Enceladus in the first place.

<< The first episode can be found here (page 173) <<

It's come to my attention that the big animated GIF files don't load very well for some people who view this comic on their phones. Sorry bout dat; I'm a bit of a dinosaur in that I still do pretty much all of my computering and internetting on an actual computer. I'll probably look into doing something about that when this comic gets back to updating again.

So this is the end of Part One of 'Birds of Prey.' I'll be taking a break before picking this back up again, as I always do at the end of the chapter. Mostly, I tend to use that time to build sets and stuff for the comic, as well as build the page buffer back up to a healthy level. Also, I'm doing a page for Heroes Alliance, so I'd better get to work on that now!

AUTHOR'S NOTES

No, that's not Mars in the last panel! It's supposed to be Neptune's moon Triton, believe it or not, but I never could get the terrain and color quite right. Those blue lights orbiting in a ring are the orbital habitats and other structures (manufactories, wildlife and agricultural reserves, etc.). Most are relatively small up close, but some – like the colony Nova Dagon that our freighter is approaching – are quite large and house hundreds of thousands of people.

This comic will be on Sleep Mode for a while, probably until early next year, so this is a good time to catch up if you're a new reader. There will be a recap of everything that happened in this chapter when the next chapter begins, and a recap of the overall story once we get back to that.

So that's all for now, and for a little while up ahead. Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you around the site! Laterz!
