242 - Lockdown

This is sort of a “meh” action page, so I'm dropping it over the weekend. I think it might have “popped” a lot better if in that last panel I had the Docking Authority gal got shredded by the shrapnel instead of half-assing it. That would probably be the more “El Cid” creative choice there, and I don't quite remember why I ended up doing it this way. I must have wasted too much time fussing over the smoke effects and then had to rush things. So yeah, this is definitely a “weekend quality” entry from me! It gets better.



Here's a quick series of snapshots from the creation process for one of my props. I'm not the greatest creative mind when it comes to designing slick sci fi techno stuff, so I usually base my designs off of references. In the case of this gun turret, I found a 3d model from a gaming resource site that I thought looked appropriately menacing, and modeled a version for this comic that is basically an upside down take on the same design.
