This is the official 300th page of the comic. It's kinda confusing, because there's more than 300 updates at this point, but some of those are covers or pinup art and stuff like that. But this is the 300th page of actual story… though, considering whether you count Deleted Scenes as pages might affect that a bit. But anyway, yeah, let's just go ahead and count this as the official Page 300. Yay, numbers!

In very NOT yay news, world famous theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson passed away on Friday, at the age of 96. If you're reading this comic, then you're probably already familiar with Dyson and his work. In his long life, he made enormous contributions to quantum theory, astronomy, and mathematics, but he's probably most well known to general audiences for his speculative thoughts on topics such as space colonization, artificial intelligence, and genetic engineering, which have been a major inspiration for countless sci fi authors. Even non sci fi geeks have heard of a Dyson sphere (even though technically he didn't invent the concept… and it's far from his most mind blowing idea). For me, I can say the setting for this comic was heavily influenced by Dyson's thoughts on human colonization of the outer solar system, particularly the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud. While I'm not sure how much pride he'd take in that, his spirit lives on in this and the countless other science fiction works he has inspired, and in his contributions to our better understanding of the universe. May he rest in peace.
