354 - Everything You Wanted

Did anybody here watch 'The Shield?' I'm not a TV show expert by any means, but that was in my opinion the best cop show that I've ever had the pleasure of watching (if an unorthodox one). Every episode it seemed like everything that possibly could go wrong, went wrong, and often with horrific results. But then there was that one episode – I think it was in Season 5 or 6; I can't remember – where, inexplicably, everything somehow goes perfectly right. It's the weirdest thing, and you spend the entire episode waiting for that next shoe to drop… and it never does.

When I laid out this chapter, I thought maybe the most interesting twist would be to have a character actually get what she wanted all along, only to realize it's not all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes achieving a goal can be a terrible thing. Especially if you paid a heavy price to get there.
