Veldan travels all over the world Solstice Night, distributing useful items to deserving folks (read: not evil). Often, people will stay up waiting for him, with dried fruit, fruitcake, or strong tea to help fortify him for his late-night journey. He has no compunctions against staying and conversing with people, because, much like his Christmas counterpart, he can bend reality and time in order to get everyone equally.

He's a bit of a Hogfather-Santa cross.
