Peipei: I think you see it earlier, but only briefly. I'd never noticed that it wasn't brought up much, but I guess it's hinted at when Ati (a woman) calls Gabriel a 'she', but Jakob (a man) calls him a 'he'. I use 'he' because it is the little known gender subjunctive pronoun of the English language, i.e. He can mean a male or something that you know is animate but you are unsure of for gender. It gets more into that later into the story, promise.

See, I said some of this was drawn on an envelope! I like the perspective I got for that panel too!
Hatehatehate the first panel! Whatever. It's made up for because it's one of the rare instances where Gabriel uses vulgarity. He was clearly attempting to insult 'it', but now we'll never know what that insult was. Or maybe I just couldn't think of anything. LIKE I SAID, WE WILL NEVER KNOW.

One more thing: Don't worry, Anna. You have permission to laugh.
