042: Searchin' For An Answer

Hey hey hey, TEO fans!

I'll bet you were thinking that I would have Photoshop installed on my tablet by now, and that this update would be an explosion of visuals. HA HA. How wrong you are. Photoshop is proving to take a bit longer to acquire and install than I expected, so this was done with a plain ol' stupid ol' mouse. Plus most of my filters have mysteriously disappeared, including the one for lighting effects (does anybody have any theories as to why this happened? I have PS 7.0, if it helps), so I had to do the lighting in this comic by hand, which explains why it isn't as good as usual. It's a bit more subdued, though, which could be good, considering the serious topic.

And about that serious topic: Again, as with "Future Tense" (Page 26, I think), this does not mean that TEO will become more serious. This is just the way that the storyline should go; Scromulex 7 is getting a little stale, and it's time to move on. It may be sad, but don't worry. You'll probably see some characters you see today in Marjorie's Place again later in the series. Besides, readers, I know all of you will get psyched about what's coming up after this in the comic… my fellow comic artists in particular. (HINT, HINT, DANG IT. More information next week. Maybe.)

In TEO-related news… if you haven't checked out the new TEO archive yet, do so now at http://users.cjb.net/teocomic/framework.htm. Thanks to a revamping I did in Web Page Design class, the TEO Archive Pages are easier to use, better-looking, and with more content than ever before– all with a whole lot less ads! (I'd definitely recommend going under Extras, then clicking on Soundtrack. It's a catalogue of every song ever performed in TEO– with sound clips, too, so you can actually listen to the songs while reading the comics. I know, I know, it was one of my better ideas.) They're also reviewing me in the DD forum at http://www.drunkduck.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=498. Be sure to drop in and say hi, or speak your mind, or whatever.

Not much is going on in the real world, though. Responsibility is finally catching up to me: Earlier tonight my parents sat me down and gave me the "you need to start thinking about college" talk, as well as the "you'll need a car next year if you want to carry your work study program" talk, which of course was kind of rammed into the "when are you planning to take the SATs" talk. And then, of course, there's taxes, insurance, and social security that comes with getting an actual job. I don't believe it. And I'm still a month away from my sixteenth birthday. It's regrettable that I'm stooping to quote an extremely hackneyed Who song, but I hope I die before I get old.

And now for this week's TEO Inquiry Of The Week (doot doo dooooo!): If you could simplify one thing in your life, what would you simplify, and how? I mean, heck, sometimes simplicity is good, right? After all, both Thoreau and Mies van der Rohe couldn't be wrong. Unless, of course, you care to argue the opposite, in which case, by all means, go ahead. And don't anybody tell you that I never made you think with these Inquiries.

That's about it. See you later! Tell all your friends about TEO! We need the free publicity!

Sincerely,

Ian Jay
