Hey there, kids! This week's page is another good'un, I think, though I'm still a bit itchy over the font in the musical interlude. Other than that, though, I'm pretty close to satisfied with this page.
Not much in the news this week. I got two things in the mail: One was the book Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs, and Some Other Things That Aren't As Scary, Maybe, Depending on How You Feel About Lost Lands, Stray Cellphones, Creatures From The Sky, Parents Who Disappear In Peru, A Man Named Lars Farf, And One Other Story We Couldn't Quite Finish, So Maybe You Could Help Us Out (a wonderful complilation of short stories for young adults– one of the few to actively acknowledge that children are not idiots). It was on sale for five bucks in the McSweeney's Store, but it wasn't until after i made the order that I discovered that shipping would cost $8.90. That's still eight dollars less than the book's regular price, though, so I'm not complaining. Much.
The other thing I got in the mail was the SpiderForest 2007 Calendar I ordered. Twelve excellent illustrations from eleven excellent SF/SS webcomic authors (including me– making this the first time TEO has ever appeared in print. Why not own a piece of history? Besides, I guarantee you will never, ever see the full illustration anywhere else ever, unless I change my mind or something), all spiral-bound on thick, classy paper. Also, there are boxes on it where you can write dates and things, but that detracts from the main point of the thing, i.e. the art. Long story short: It is excellent.
Buy a SpiderForest 2007 Calendar here. All proceeds go to cute, shivering little orphan puppies who will die, very painfully, from acute tuberculosis unless you buy at least three or four of these calendars. Please, give. Let the healing begin.
Also, in web-related news, the Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards is back this year! I'm participating (though I'm probably not doing a presentation like I did last year), and, if you're a fellow webcomic artist, you should too. Be sure to nominate and vote for TEO when the polls open. (If the polls open.) I'm still not sure if TEO is good enough to win anything, but it's sure as hell good enough to compete.
And that's it for this week. See you… um… next week, hopefully.
