Hello, TEO fans! The action sequence came out pretty good, I think. And it ain't over yet. Next week, though, we'll be taking a break for the big TEO Two Years And (almost) One Hundred Pages Super Xtreme Guest Comic Partyganzabration And Rummage Sale, which I sure hope you've finished your submissions for, because the deadline hits in… what? The 16th is Friday? Yeah, then the deadline is Friday. Saturday at the very, very latest. Hopefully I'll be able to put up one item a day (maybe two– I'll have to see how many submissions I get, but it'll probably be one), culminating with an exclusive inside look at the tedious and inefficient method that I use to produce TEO every week! (Which will go far as to explain why I'm always turning these things in late. I guess Tuesday is the new Monday. And Wednesday will probably end up being the new Tuesday before long…)
In other, non-comic-related news, I turned seventeen this past Sunday. As per every year, we went to the Baltimore Auto Show, and while it wasn't as good as last year (come on, people! Where's all the good schwag?), I had a lot of fun. (By the by, have any of you heard of the car marque Saleen? "Power in the hands of a few"? Just wondering. They're supposedly luxury cars, but all their cars are made with Ford parts, and their bread-and-butter model– the one they sell the most of– looks almost exactly like one of the new Mustangs, but at double the cost. Ridiculous.) Instead of a cake, I got seventeen little funfetti cupcakes (some iced, some bald– because I'm not a huge fan of icing). And as for gifts, I got two graphic reference books full of photos and stuff, a "Dixie Dictionary" for my upcoming move to Savannah, a printer/scanner, and a Nintendo Wii.
The Wii is the first real video game console I've ever owned, so I'm new to the whole gaming culture. I got two games with mine. One, Wii Sports, came included in the box (which is a pretty smart idea), and, as the name might imply, has five different sports for the player to try out. (My favorites are tennis and bowling. My dad has skills at golf. My sister and my mom are both addicted to boxing, and they both seem to have a preternatural talent for punching the living daylights out of their virtual opponents.) The other, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, came seperate; I'm still trying to figure out what the hell it's about. (It's frantic, off-center, and eye-bleedingly cartoony. Don't get me wrong, though, it's fun to play. Just… don't play it if you get frustrated easily, or are prone to epileptic seizures.) Apparently you can connect these things to the Internet, too (WiFi connector sold seperately– something I don't have yet), so I might play with any of you other Wii-fondlers out there eventually, but right now I'm still sort of getting the logistics of the thing down. (Plus I'm trying to push back that feeling, deep in my soul, that with the purchase of this video game console I've crossed a line in my psyche that was never meant to be crossed. But I suppose I had to get into this whole "video gaming" thing at one point or another, and the Wii is a lot cheaper and easier to figure out than, say, the Playstation 3. …I just hope that this doesn't turn me into a "gamer" or anything.)
Also? We got a three-hour early dismissal today on account of inclement weather– snow, sleet, rain, ice, and whatever else gets thrown under the category of "wintry mix". Now I just hope we get tomorrow off, That would be truly wonderful.
There was something else, but I kind of forgot it. If I think of it, I'll let you guys know.
In conclusion: Destino (two trailers: HERE and HERE). Disney/Dali animation project abandoned in the Forties but just recently completed by some French animation company. Man, do I want to see this sucker.
