I figured that faeries are self-evolving. Once in a while something will happen that causes a faerie to go insane during the evolving process and becomes a "throwback" if you will. A throwback is insane and causes harm to anything it comes across. The throwback is also sexless and can not have kids. The word "lesser" means throwback to the faeries.
The stuff coming out of Salome's mouth is the sprite's blood.
