Your first question should be "so why doesn't he?" Doesn't it seem like Tren is really the biggest threat to him right now? Easy enough to explain away the death of a slave and mollify Ralla with a new one…hm….I'll repeat this in the comic later, but I wanted to mention it so you all realize I didn't just overlook this ;)

So yes, this is the inspiration for the cover. He who "holds all the cards." The original idea was just him holding a card you couldn't see…then I decided to use tarot cards due to their inherent symbolism and there you have it! He's full of confidence because he feels that that is completely the case. He doesn't think he needs to fear or discipline Tren because there's nothing Tren can do but be angry.

Also, it's one of those moments where the villain throws the "you're as bad as me" line at the hero. I hate that. And unless the hero is very insecure (as sometimes happens) it shouldn't work. It doesn't here. Tren realizes that that's bull, and he also realizes that he has come a long way from that point anyway, so even if he HAD been as bad, he's not anymore. So our villain's taunt is moot. BWAH HA!

ALSO! I added the fansketchy that Amused4ever did for me to the fanart gallery! Clicky! Go look! It's good times! Tren is so cute and startled looking! ^_^

This past week was EXHAUSTING! But I *drumroll* GOT A NEW JOB! So things should hopefully start looking up soon. It starts today. I am nervous but excited.
