For the record, what he's casting here is a simple light spell of the sort that humans could already cast, but expanded to fill the entire hall, which previously they could not do.

…though I probably should've said that somewhere in the actual comic. Then again, I'm not sure it matters. It may only matter that they're impressed. XD
