He landed on Blacksmith because the encounter with the blacksmith was the first good thing that happened on this little adventure, so it was recent event that stuck in his mind.

The actual pronunciation of this name is closest to "Deersch", but I imagine most native English speakers like myself will read it as "Dirge"…so I apologize in advance for accidentally being a little too on the nose with that. Haha!
