Didn't have the time to pull out another comic page so you get this instead.
Phew.. Back from AX! Man that was some trip.. A lot of fun and random. We decided to dub it "Coincidence Con"
I'll tell you all the coincidences: -I made a CD specifically for the trip. I tested it in my computer before we left by sticking it in and pushing play… All good. Turns out, in actuality it would only play the first track. So I burnt another one, only then I lost it.. Argh! -My mom was freaking out about me using her car because she thought it would overheat in the desert. Well.. Every time we were in the desert, it was either overcast or nighttime. -My friend Corina, who came with me, had relatives who lived right on the way to Anaheim so we dropped by there on day two and they gave us free food! -Our first extra roommate ended up only being able to stay the first night. Our second extra roommate ended up missing the first night. - Kei was going to get a table next to me but she didn't get in until after registration closed, so in the morning she ran to the reg line while I waiting in the artist line. Both lines had issues, so it ended up that she got back to our line just in time to sign up together. - I ended up in line next to Jessica, whom I'd befriended at the con in years past. - Our second roommate ended up randomly being Kei's friend. That was probably the biggest coincidence. His name was Will. - Will had also been an artist at A-kon - The table I chose happened to be right behind the table of a girl I'd sat next to last year. - We didn't notice we were sitting back to back until the next day. - One of the few times anyone was even the slightest bit interested in my book was when I had run off for a few minutes. - On the way walking back from IHOP, Disney put on fireworks. - Kei and I went out in the hall to talk instead of sleep and a bunch of her Japanese fans happened to walk by and see her. - I happened to have run back to the room to grab my notebook, so I wasn't there to help translate. - Some guy at the table, looking most realistically like L, recognized my name and apparently was my friend when I was in preschool. Okaaay.. maybe that one was the biggest coincidence. - I met someone who'd been at Kansai Gaidai. - A few friends of mine happened to be staying in the room across the hall from me. Didn't realize that until the second day. - Ran out of watercolor paper. - Remembered vaguely where the Michael's was and headed out at 8:30. - Got to Michaels 10 minutes before it closed. - Someone had taken my parking space when I got back, but the space next to it was free. - Someone at the con had actually heard of Two Moons before! - Someone knew what BLAME! is. - My bag of snacks fell off the table and upside down into my bag of art. - The con got out on the fourth of July, meaning there was no traffic. - We got to Las Vegas as the fireworks started. - Traffic was awesome the entire way home. - We saw a rainbow. - When we hit the most beautiful part of the mountains, the sun was setting and there were light clouds in the sky. - When we hit the awful, steep part of the mountains, it was dark. - And started raining. - And my winshield wipers broke. - And the gas station was closed. - And there was no civilization for miles around. - And I was scared for my life for a good hour of driving without being able to see more than the white line at the side of the road out of the corner of the window. - I didn't hit anyone when I had a panic attack and pulled over to the side. - I didn't pull over too far and go off the cliff. - I broke free of the storm eventually as I left the mountains. - There was a leftover bagel and some juice (Pretty much the only items in the fridge!) at my friends house so that I could get some more energy before driving further. - Road construction and closed lanes just starting up as I headed toward Fort Collins.
Yeah.. bad drive home, but other than that I loved the trip. Absolutely worth every moment. Some cool people I met up with: Kei - Whee and robots on so many levels! Jesse - For what I saw of you, you were awesome Will - I think the four of us in the room make up the most laid back people I've ever met The Pointy people - I love you guys!!! Sparkley hair cow girl - I'm bad I forget your name already but I'm so glad I saw you again! Thanks for showing me your art! Jessica - You're an awesome table neighboor! As well as being an awesome person in general. The guy who gave me the Vietnamese Sandwich - You rock my world. The three people who bought my book - I bow to you. The girl from Canada - You are so awesome. Thanks for the print. Good luck to you in the future! Fireball - Thanks for the fossil. I am unworthy! The girl who could draw better at 12 than I could at 18 - Keep it up! In three years you'll be better than all of us!
Wow this is a long post..
Just want to say a few more things before I get to respondy.. Some people are curious how to make links. You put url=http://blahblahblah in brackets, then you type the text you want, then you type /url also in brackets.
If you're interested in my book, there's a link at the bottom.
I want to post things on the forum all the time, but I think there's some setting messed up with my computer and it won't let me sign in. Blahhh…
And finally…. SIILAS IS FEMALE! but not only is Siilas female.. I AM ALSO FEMALE! :)
Respondy:
Glass Ink - Hello!
LimboWoman - Thanks. Heh, it's just a character though, no background.. So I don't think it's too great.
Avatar Pwnz - Thank you!
EJB - Woah you know about that show?? I will so tell Teresa.. she'll be thrilled. We watch it every day just because she needs to practice her Spanish.
EG isn't the tassel kind of guy.
Nope, same color scheme.. Haven't changed it since the very beginning.
I never notice typos anyway.
And I DID enjoy AX - thanks!
Darkest1 - Whee! Siilas is the hardest character to draw.. I have the worst time keeping her consistant, but I'm also trying harder now.
It's only natural to have weird obsessions with KH!
Kaj - I missed you!! Sad sad.. It's like we were never even in the same state together.. I passed through Arizona when you were in Colorado, and you left when I came back..
Yay you remember my thing about the windows in buildings!
JillyFoo - It's Siilas! She's been there since the beginning…
Nekko - Thanks! Wow a lot of people like that face… hm.. what did I do?
Kaminari - LOVE!!! to both of your pics. Wow! You totally didn't have to do all that and they're both hilarious and wonderful! That is so awesome! Thank you so much!
