Wow.. it's an update!
I recommend re-reading from the beginning of the chapter to remember what was going on.

Japan is still a complete mess right now.
I mean, I can pretend.. I can turn off the TV, go out in the sun, and not be effected by this stuff at all. But in the back of my head I'm thinking… somewhere, people are suffering. They don't have enough to eat, they don't have a home, they don't have protection from the winter weather…

So of course you guys know about the Fukushima reactor and everything… It's not just a localized thing. People seem to think that oohh, it's off the front page now, we can forget about it! Well it's not that easy.. Like that plant was supplying electricity to half of Japan, so that means coming up with enough electricity to keep Tokyo running has been difficult. That means the trains aren't running as scheduled. That means products can't be manufactures, food can't be transported. Last week my side of hte country was out of rice. Like completely fucking out of the staple food for every meal! It was kinda surreal.

You can turn off the TV and forget that there are thousands of corpses washing up on the shores…
You can turn on the faucet and forget that there are invisible radioactive particles now flowing freely through your water source.

But then something happens like there's no rice in the store. That's not something you can forget about.

My boy is out of a job right now, so he's thinking of joining a volunteer program to go help out up north. I'm so proud of him.. All I can do is keep shelling out money into every donation box I pass by on the street. I think I'm up to 50 bucks and counting now.

Anyway.. thanks for all the comments.
