The strip is basically about two Pet Gerbils, opposite in character but equally crazy, trapped together in a small environment. Nutty is the dumb over weight one happy with his rather minimal existence, escaping only via his daydreams. Russ considers himself the clever one and is obsessed with the need to escape, he is slowly being driven insane by Nutty.
